Friday Night No-E Classic

We will be participating in the No-E Classic this Friday night at Sooner Motorplex. Gates @ 6:00pm racing starts @ 7:00pm. there will also be fun-n-grudge, hour of power, and test-n-tune. Come watch us run.

Camaro problems

Seems that we have been plagued with problems with our Camaro ever since we changed from carburetion to injection…but I think we have finally figured our our main problem. Somehow, back when we had the engine dynoed, a fuel pressure idle poppet spring was setup incorrectly, and has probably been the issue all along. Instead of being set at 1-2 psi, it was set at 20 psi, flooding the engine with fuel and eventually washing out the bearings. We caught it in time and she sure sounds alot better now. Our plan is to take it out to Sooner motorplex next Friday and see if we’ve solved our long-time problems.

Friday night at Sooner Motorplex

This Friday night we will have a rare treat: We will have both the Camaro and the Vega out at Sooner Motorplex! We have the fuel pump back in the Camaro and have replaced the camshaft in the Vega after our disappointing runs at Thunder Valley. The Vega ran 11.17 @ 117mph on motor. I expected alot more, so I decided to put the old camshaft back in. We will be at the track tommorrow night to run both of them in the hour of Power. Come watch us run.

Update: The Vega ran 6:40 @ 104mph. The Camaro had fuel problems and did not make a complete run.

Camaro Update

We sent the fuel pump off to Enderle Injection for repair, and they have repaired it and have shipped it out today, so we should receive it by the middle of next week. We will have the Camaro going again by the end of next week.

Going to Thunder Valley 31 July

We have found the oiling problem in the Vega motor and have repaired it. We are planning on going to Noble,OK. (Thunder Valley Raceway Park) this Saturday to run in their National Dragster Challenge race for the “Wally”. Come watch us run!

Racecar Update

We have finished both cars…We took the Camaro out for testing and she sounds good! The fuel pump decided to quit on me, so i’ll have to send it off to be rebuilt by Enderle, but I think she will stay together this time…The Vega is also ready. We decided to upgrade the camshaft during the rebuild so she should run alot better. Were taking the Vega out tonight to Sooner Motorplex for some testing and possibly a bracket race. I’ll post our results a bit later.

UPDATE: The Vega had oiling problems, so we will investigate and get her back together soon.

Troubles with both cars

Well, let’s start with the Camaro…Took it out last Friday night and spun another rod bearing. This is the 4th motor we’ve hurt since October, and it’s starting to get a little frustrating. I think we’ve finally figured out what keeps hurting the bearings, but it will be a few more weeks before we can afford to put it back together. Now on to the Vega… it ran very well on Friday so we took it out Saturday for the Inaugural Race but lost in the fourth round with a slow reaction time of .602 on a .500 tree. oh well, shit happens….Took it back out this past Friday night to make a few nitrous passes and catastrophy happened.. On our very first run, we went into the burnout and she sounded like she was missing. I decided to back it off the line and go back to the pits and investigate. Before I could get it back to our trailer, the motor shut off. We later found that the motor had siezed up. The next morning, I took the intake and heads off to find that my Dart heads were destroyed by fragmentation from a broken valve and seat. We will have to replace the pistons and both cylinder heads. Guess it’s time to step it up! I’m going to replace the flat top pistons with a high compression dome piston (13.8-1 compression). This should wake her up a little! Again, we will have to wait a few weeks for my money tree to grow a new branch before we can get both cars running again.

Update: Found a money tree branch by completing that 66 Mustang restoration I was working on….Ordered my new cylinder heads and pistons. I decided to go with a bigger cylinder head so we purchased the RHS 235cc aluminum heads bare. Victor Penrod will install new stainless one-piece valve in them for me as well as set them up for my camshaft. For pistons, we decided to go with a Forged Mahle 13.8-1 pistons. Inaugural State Race at Sooner Motorplex

We are planning on running one of the cars this Saturday at the first NHRA Inaugural State Race. Not sure which one yet, will depend on our races Friday night and how well each car performs…We will be racing for $3,000 and a Wally Parks plaque. Should be alot of fun, come join us!

We are scheduled to run at Sooner Motorplex this Friday night for the heads-up/ index class races. We are going to run the Camaro in the Outlaw Pro-Mod class, and run the Vega in the 5.80 Index class. Against the Pro-Mods, I’ll probably get my ass handed to me, but I thought we would try it anyway. I’m sure it’s too fast for the 5.80 class and besides, i’m running the Vega in that one and we can’t run two cars in the same class…(might end up running against myself , and that won’t work!) If by some rare chance I beat any Pro-Mod, God save him, because I will brag for a year! hahaha. Come out and join in the fun.

One Bad-Ass Vega

We took the Vega out Friday night for a few test runs and boy is she ready. We ran best of: 6.16 @ 109mph with a 1.32-60ft. Wheels up out to the 60ft mark! I think she has alot more in her. Were going back out this Friday night to find out, so come join us!
