Results from the 6.40 Index Race
July 21, 2008 on 6:18 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWe took the Vega out Friday night to do some last minute tuning before the big race, and ended up blowing a head gasket. Saturday morning, we started tearing down the engine, and got it back together an hour before time trials started! Off the trailer, she ran 6.44, but the track was a little slippery (track temp was somewhere around the 140 degree mark!) By the time we got our second time trial, the track had cooled off alot and we ran a 6.28. I knew that we were going to have to slow the car down a bit to win, so we took out 8 degrees of timing. On the first elimination pass, we treed our oponent, and at the end of the track, I let off the nitrous, thinking we slowed down enough. Unfortunately, we still ran too fast with a 6.33! Whatever we did this time putting it back together must be right, cause she’s definately faster now. We talked to Terry Zimmerman about getting our final two license passes for our Super Gas license on Friday and he said that we could do it, so come out Friday night and watch us get it on!!
Pro Mods/10.5’s and 6.40 index at SMP
July 16, 2008 on 6:44 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsCome out and watch us run the Vega this Saturday at Sooner Motorplex, as we try to win the 6.40 index race. The Pro Mods will be there as well as the 10.5 cars and also a new class; the 7.50 index class. Our car was dialed in on 6.42 last month when we attended this race and we could have won it if we hadn’t red-lighted, cutting a 4.89 light. We’ll see what we can do this time and hopefully, bring home the win. Come see us!
National Dragster Challenge at SMP
July 14, 2008 on 7:04 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThe Camaro is still down waiting on new rings, so we decided to take the Vega out to Sooner Motorplex for their Annual National Dragster Challenge Race this past Saturday. I’m not a bracket racer, but we went ahead and ran in the No Electronics class, and we ended up making it to the finals. Unfortunately, we didn’t win it, but second place was pretty nice. I look forward to the King of the Track Race to be held sometime in August. I plan on having the Camaro back up and running before then. Come watch us run.
