Back in action
March 20, 2006 on 10:36 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWell, $1,100.00 dollars later, we have repaired the rear differential on the car and are looking forward to taking it out for a test run. We replaced the ring and pinion gears, third member and the pinion support as well as all the bearings, so it should be ready to go now. hopefully, we won’t break anything else for a while. We will be out of pocket for the next two weeks attending a car show and a wedding. We look forward to seeing everyone at The Sooner Motorplex on April 14th for Test-N-Tune.
Last weekend at Sooner Motorplex
March 12, 2006 on 2:24 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWe got all of the computer and carburetor issues solved this past week and decided to go out to Sooner Motorplex and give it a try again. I decided to make my first run a motor-only, footbrake pass. We went into the burnout box and the car felt strong. Pulled into the staging lights, brought the engine up to 3000 rpm and hit the gas when the lights came down. The car squated and snapped the pinion support and damaged the ring and pinion gears. Made a big mess on the track. We will have to install better parts if this is any indication of the power were making. See everyone in a few weeks once we can recover financially and get her going again.
Follow-Up: Called Mark Williams Enterprises this morning and decided to go ahead and order from them. They have the best parts for what we are trying to achieve. Ordered a new Nodular Iron case and aluminum pinion support with all new Timken bearings as well as a set of Richmond Pro 4:86 gears(ring and pinion). My good friend Jim Neibors will do the setup for me. Hope to be back in business real soon.
Bad luck
March 6, 2006 on 11:12 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWell, We had all intentions of running at Sooner Motorplex last weekend, however, we ran into a few problems with the timing system, and ended up loading the car up and coming home without getting to go down the track. We are currently evaluating the problem and look forward to having the problem solved real soon.
