Camaro Update
August 7, 2008 on 6:47 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWell, we dodged a bullet this time…Turns out that the motor is o.k.!!! Found out that we lost oil pressure due to a faulty Fram Filter clogging up the inlet port.(I’m currently waiting for a review from Allied Signal on their filter analysis), and we’ll see if they would like to donate to Team Hall Racing. Note to self and anyone else who will listen: NEVER USE FRAM FILTERS AGAIN!!!!!! We are going to order an EGT probe for the Camaro and see if we can get this tuneup right. She sounds goooood!
Here we go again!!!
August 3, 2008 on 8:24 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThe Camaro has once again let us down…We got in the waterbox on our first pass, started the burnout and the rev-limiter did not catch at 5500rpm as we had programmed it to do, and I’m pretty sure we spun a rod bearing, because we lost oil pressure and ran the motor up to 10,000rpm. It only took a second and by the time I caught it, it was too late. I’ll know more once I get the engine pulled and torn down later this week. On a better note, I brought the Camaro home and took the Vega back out to the track Friday night, and she ran great! 6.32 @ 107.42mph. Seems like this car is on automatic!! Next week, we will run it for the “King of the Track” championship and hopefully win a Wally. Come watch us run it!!

Results from the 6.40 Index Race
July 21, 2008 on 6:18 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWe took the Vega out Friday night to do some last minute tuning before the big race, and ended up blowing a head gasket. Saturday morning, we started tearing down the engine, and got it back together an hour before time trials started! Off the trailer, she ran 6.44, but the track was a little slippery (track temp was somewhere around the 140 degree mark!) By the time we got our second time trial, the track had cooled off alot and we ran a 6.28. I knew that we were going to have to slow the car down a bit to win, so we took out 8 degrees of timing. On the first elimination pass, we treed our oponent, and at the end of the track, I let off the nitrous, thinking we slowed down enough. Unfortunately, we still ran too fast with a 6.33! Whatever we did this time putting it back together must be right, cause she’s definately faster now. We talked to Terry Zimmerman about getting our final two license passes for our Super Gas license on Friday and he said that we could do it, so come out Friday night and watch us get it on!!
Pro Mods/10.5’s and 6.40 index at SMP
July 16, 2008 on 6:44 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsCome out and watch us run the Vega this Saturday at Sooner Motorplex, as we try to win the 6.40 index race. The Pro Mods will be there as well as the 10.5 cars and also a new class; the 7.50 index class. Our car was dialed in on 6.42 last month when we attended this race and we could have won it if we hadn’t red-lighted, cutting a 4.89 light. We’ll see what we can do this time and hopefully, bring home the win. Come see us!
National Dragster Challenge at SMP
July 14, 2008 on 7:04 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThe Camaro is still down waiting on new rings, so we decided to take the Vega out to Sooner Motorplex for their Annual National Dragster Challenge Race this past Saturday. I’m not a bracket racer, but we went ahead and ran in the No Electronics class, and we ended up making it to the finals. Unfortunately, we didn’t win it, but second place was pretty nice. I look forward to the King of the Track Race to be held sometime in August. I plan on having the Camaro back up and running before then. Come watch us run.
Update on both cars
June 28, 2008 on 11:03 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWell, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything…we’ve been very busy, working on both cars; First the Camaro: We have come to the conclusion that the computer is outdated. I’ve bought a new MSD Digital 7 Programmable with a HVC coil that I need to install as soon as I get some time….Now for the Vega: We broke two transmissions before we figured out that we need a solid transmission mount to prevent the engine from moving backwards and breaking it. We took it out to SMP last weekend for the 6.40 index class and did pretty good. It ran best of 6.42 @ 106 mph. We took it out tonight to try our luck at bracket racing and she went 6.46 an a 6.47 dial-in. broke out and ran too fast!! Looks like this car will last a while. Now to try to get my wife to drive it! Stay tuned for more on the Camaro coming soon.
2008 Season is here
April 30, 2008 on 8:54 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWell, the 2008 racing season is finally here. We have the Camaro engine rebuilt and ready to go back in. We are freshening up the transmission while we have it out, so a few more weeks and we’ll be ready to go again. We are going to DTS (Drive Train Specialties) in OKC on Friday to get a new drive shaft for the Vega. We are going to rebuild the transmission in it also. I’ve got to get a new converter for it and it will be ready again. Hope to see everyone real soon!
Pinks All Out update
March 18, 2008 on 5:43 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWe have returned from the Pinks All Out show and we had a great time. It was definately an experience that we will never forget! We had a problem with the motor on qualifying day. We rolled into the burnout box, brought the motor up to 6800rpm, held it for a few seconds, then the engine just quit. We tried to restart the car, but I could tell something was wrong; the motor was extremely tight. We worked on the car for a while and finally come to the conclusion that we were done. We stayed for the rest of the show and drove home the next day. We have since torn the motor down to find four spun rod bearings as a result of a cracked oil pump pickup tube. We are currently rebuilding the motor and should have it back up in a few weeks.
We are taking the Vega out this weekend if the weather dries up. We’ve had rain for the past two days, so hopefully we will get the chance to run it soon.
On the road again
February 2, 2008 on 10:55 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsTeam Hall Racing is going to Thunder Valley Raceway Park tommorrow, 3 February to test our new setup and also make our license passes. We have worked extremely hard, trying to get everything finished in time, but we’ve done it. Thanks to Fred Werner and Jay Josey. You guys made it happen! Come watch us run at TVRP.
